“Tirupati Balaji Temple ” is Until the end of the 19th century, there were no other constructions except the Tirupati Balaji Temple of ‘Lord Venkateswara’ and Hatiranji Matt on the hills. Due to the fear of wild animals and robbers, pilgrims went in crowds making big noises with drums and uttering loudly the name of Govinda and climb the hills. During 1870, the government had constructed steps up to the peak of the hill for the sake of pilgrims and during 1933, the newly established board of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam further improved the steps. Further the convenience of devotees, a dome was constructed above the way of steps. During earlier times also several rulers took much care of this “Tirupati Balaji Temple”.

‘Tirupati Balaji Temple’ is At 614 A.D., the queen of Pallavas, Samavay had renovated the Ananda Nilayam. After that Samavay Perindevi had donated the statue of Bhoga Srinivasa and got it established as per Vaikhasana tradition. This is known as the first gift as per the edicts on the walls of the Tirupati Balaji Temple. For the Telugu Pallava King, Vijayanagaram Gopala Deva, Tribhuvana Chakravarthy, Tiru Venkatanadha Yadava Raya, and Hari Hara Rayulu organized Bhamosthavams. After the declined of Vijayanagara empire, the temple came under the control of Mohammedans. For payment of taxes due to the Nizam of Hyderabad the Nawab of Karnataka, Davud Khan levied taxes on the temple.

Mohamadans and Marathas quarreled over this issue. This 1740, Maratha king took control of the Tirupati Balaji Temple and presented very valuable ornaments to the Tirupati Balaji Temple. Gradually by 1801, the temple came under the control of the East India Company During 1841, the British government passed an act prohibiting interference in the Management of Hindu Religious Establishments and so the management of the affairs of the “Tirupati Balaji Temple” was entrusted to the Mahanthis.
